In the studio today

The Memory of Flowers 

Deep within my soul

there are flowers,

fallen petals

and sinuous stems,

reaching and twisting back through time

back through mind and memory.

Spring walks in my mothers arms,

stretching tiny hands high to blossoms out of reach

brought forth by love and caring.

Then, darkness and fear

and thorns

and tears

never again to feel that joy

of the blossom teasing in the breeze.

Never to forget the memory of flowers.
