My dear friend Alec Dawson of Rhode Island, fellow watch collector and art lover / philanthropist, you will be missed by many. Our daily 'chats' were the highlight of my day, your wit, humour and intelligence will stay with me forever. Thank you my friend.

Works in progress- "Nuage" studies

Small studies 30x30cms. oil on linen.

Continued work in the studio today on the studies for the "Nuage" series. My problems/concerns, are how to paint a cloud that is effortless, I am wanting it to be a poem, suspended in light and space, yet with the presence of a monument. I want to infer rather than define, and that is the challenge.

Another surprise find in the studio clean up. Sumi e ink brush drawing "Still Life" from about 1980.

I spent another few hours in the studio today working on some studies of flowers in gouache, such sweet frustration trying to fit the universe within a single flower. I hope to torment myself again tomorrow.
