I have had a number of people ask me why I am painting still life lately and on such a small scale. Quite simply the reason is, that I am enjoying the more structured nature of painting these still life forms. There is a real meditative quality to looking into, at and around a simple white bowl or cup, or whatever the object is and trying to capture it. I am also working on a small scale out of necessity because while working on the larger "Nuage" pieces (which is still ongoing) I found that it was very stressful on my back and hip, so working on this smaller scale, gives me some time to recuperate and still allows me to work.
